Three persons including a trader, his son and an attendant have been shot dead in Maiduguri by suspected members of the Boko Haram sect.
The incident occurred even as the state of emergency declared in the state and two others in the northeast entered its seventh day. Witnesses said the gunmen came to the trader’s shop
identified as Mallam Bitrus Koji, located at Chescon area of Pompomari, Maiduguri in a Volkswagen Golf car on Thursady afternoon and requested for cold water from the shop attendant, an almajiri boy.
When he went in, one of the sons of Mallam Bitrus came out and the gunmen asked about his father. When the boy told them his father was not around, they pushed him into the shop where they met Mallam Bitrus. They opened fire on him, then they turned to his boy and the almajiri killing the three in the shop,” residents said. Also, some gunmen suspected to be perpetrators of the earlier killing were said to have opened fire on a driver of a car who was later identified as a medical student.
Saturday Sun gathered that the families of the deceased especially Mallam Bitrus were making efforts with the security agencies yesterday to convey the corpses to their villages for burial.
