The 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Alamala, Abeokuta in Ogun State said, Wednesday, that it arrested eight persons for allegedly operating an illegal cement factory at Ewekoro along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
A statement by the Army Public Relations Officer, Captain Adamu Ngulde, said the suspects were caught adulterating products from Larfarge and Dangote cement.
According to him, the suspects were mixing the two products with sand and sawdust at their illegal factory and then repackaging it for sale to unsuspecting members of the public. He said: “The eight suspects were arrested by troops of the special squad, Operation MESA, at about 5.00am on Monday while re-bagging the product into sacks at their alleged illegal factory. “The suspects are Bamidele Raji, Sikiru Adesina, Abiodun Akinfenwa, Wale Ogunaike, Sarafa Yusuf, Joseph Guto, Funso Orutoso and Akinlodu Jalili.”
