The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Alex Badeh, has tasked all the field commanders and personnel of the Nigerian Air Force to comply with the rules of engagement and be well disciplined in their operations, especially in the enforcement of the state of emergency in some parts of the North-east.
He warned that all officers and commanders must adhere strictly to the chains of authority within the service, saying that if any officer misbehaves, the AOC would be held responsible.
He noted that the meeting has become necessary to keep the field commanders abreast of the new developments within the NAF management, ranks and file.
He said: “We are having this meeting to put the managers of NAF on the same page because a lot has been happening, especially the security issues. This is therefore organised to make the field commanders conversant with the latest developments in NAF and bring greater synergy within the management and command structure.
“They are constantly reminded on the need for maintenance of discipline, particularly in the area of security. As you are aware, NAF is involved and currently participating in the ongoing efforts at restoring normalcy in the North-east.”
The CAS added that another area of deliberation on the NAF’s current drive for self-sustenance is in the area of research development.
He disclosed that a lot have been achieved in that area but since most of the breakthrough is still classified it would not be open to the public knowledge until further notice.
“This is to also inform the participants of the progress being made in the area of research and development, as quit a lot have been achieved but since they are currently classified that is why you will not he part of the discussion,” he explained.
“However, in not too distant time, we would be informing you some of these key achievements including those bothering on military welfare,” he said.
