Van Persie: United Ready For New Era Under Moyes

United ready for new era under Moyes, says Van Persie

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie believes the club need to embrace the managerial change at Old Trafford rather than fear it and is looking forward to a new era at the club.

David Moyes has officially taken over from the recently retired Sir Alex Ferguson in what was the first managerial change at the club in 26 years.

The arrival of Moyes has also seen a change in
the backroom staff at Old Trafford too, with the likes of Mike Phelan and Rene Meulensteen having departed, but Van Persie is relishing the new season and is eager to retain the Premier League trophy.

"It will be a new era and I am looking forward to it," Van Persie told MUTV. "It is part of our job as well. We have to deal with the new situation and how it is.

"First we can enjoy last year a little. We have a summer break which we should all take and enjoy. And then, slowly, after a couple of weeks, we will start to think about next season and, of course, we are looking forward to next season."

The 29-year-old also said he is expecting Moyes to bring in new talent, with some possible departures, but he confident the squad can keep up the same title-winning rhythm from last season.

"It is going to be a new era and a new challenge, with a new manager, maybe some new players coming," he continued. "[Wilfried] Zaha is coming in from Crystal Palace, maybe some more. Maybe some will leave, nobody knows.

"But it is going to be a new challenge and everybody knows what our standards are: we want to win the league again and then hopefully add one or two trophies to that."
